STORY:

Those who want a video game for their Christmas stocking might be hard pressed to choose from a huge array of newly released games and gadgets at the Asia Game Show in Hong Kong.

香港亞洲電玩展上，那些想要一個電玩遊戲放進聖誕襪的人，可能很難從數量龐大的新款遊戲和裝置中做出選擇。

The annual video game exposition, which has been running since 2002, is said to have attracted 450,000 visitors last year.

這個從2002年開始，一年一度的電玩遊戲博覽會，據悉去年吸引了有45萬參觀人潮。

This year they are expecting 20 percent more visitors.

他們預期今年會有超過去年百分之20的參觀人數。

In the opening on Friday, booths showcasing 3D gaming stole the show. Crowds of teens in 3D glasses stood gawking in front of huge screens displaying 3D racing games.

在周五的開幕上，展示3D遊戲的攤位最為搶眼。成群戴著3D眼鏡的青少年們張口瞠目地站在顯示3D賽車遊戲的大螢幕前方。

[Ng Chi-Hou, Gamer]:

"The visual experience is much better than regular video games. For example, you can feel the distance when an object flies at you. Ordinary 2D video games cannot produce such effects and that makes this a big new attraction."

玩家伍智厚說：

「這個視覺經驗比一般電玩遊戲好太多了。舉例來說，當一個物體飛向你的時候，你可以感受到它的距離。而一般的2D電玩沒辦法產生這種效果，所以這會是一個新的大賣點。」

This is the first year that foreign firms have taken part in the show, with companies from Japan, France, Thailand and Taiwan showing new products.

今年是第一次有外國公司參加這個博覽會。來自日本、法國、泰國和台灣的公司，都來這裡展示新產品。

Joining gaming giants like Sony and a host of ambitious Chinese developers were also present, keen on carving a share of the market.

同時間遊戲巨頭如新力公司及一大群野心勃勃的中國開發商也出現了，渴望獲得部份市場。

Mobile and iPhone games were also a hit.

行動裝置和iPhone遊戲也是一個大熱門。

Online and phone gaming has ballooned in mainland China in recent years as improved technology has made gaming affordable for the growing middle class.

近幾年來線上遊戲和手機遊戲人口在中國大陸激增。因為科技的改良，使日益壯大的中產階級負擔得起電玩遊戲。

[Alwin Wong, Marketing Exec., Lakoo Online Games]:

"With improvements in mobile phone technology, people use their phones to play video games. We can see people playing with their phone while they are on the train. The rapid increase in the popularity of mobile games has a lot to do with the introduction of the iPhone."

Lakoo線上遊戲公司的行銷執行長黃阿文說：

「隨著手機科技的進步，人們得以用手機打電動。在火車上我們都可以看到有人在用手機玩遊戲。手機遊戲人口的快速成長，和iPhone的問世有很大的關係。」

The online game market was expected to reach 25 million users in China by the end of 2010, and to more than 60 million by 2013.

中國的線上遊戲市場預期在2010年底將可達2500萬名使用者，2013年將超過6000萬名使用者。
