STORY:

Local residents in Hengyang in central China’s Hunan province watch a giant centipede preying on a gecko.

在中國中部的湖南省衡陽當地居民，看見一隻巨型蜈蚣在捕食壁虎。

[Local resident]:

"The centipede was about this long (gesturing the length of the centipede). It's red and black."

當地居民說：「那隻蜈蚣差不多這麼長（比出蜈蚣長度的手勢）。紅紅黑黑的。」

The centipede—measuring eight inches—grabs the gecko with its claws before injecting its venom into the small lizard to paralyze and kill its prey.

這隻蜈蚣－量有8英吋－先用它的爪子抓住壁虎，將其毒液注射到這隻小蜥蜴身上，讓這隻獵物癱瘓然後殺死。

During the hunt, the centipede is followed by a trail of ants wanting to have a share of the gecko. But the centipede responds quickly by carrying its prey to another place.

在獵食當中，蜈蚣身後跟著一長串螞蟻，想分一杯壁虎羹。但蜈蚣反應很快，把獵物帶到另一個地方。

The gecko stops moving within minutes. The dead gecko turns black as the centipede devours its victim.

壁虎在幾分鐘之內就不動彈了。蜈蚣吞食它的受害者，同時這隻死掉的壁虎變成了黑色的。

Centipedes are versatile predators that can change their eating habits to different and whatever food they can find.

蜈蚣是多變的捕食者，可以因應它們能找到的食物的不同，而改變它們自己的飲食習慣。
